Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on Switch 2 actually looks to be running and playing really well

It’s been 13 long years, but Call of Duty is back on Nintendo. And to the surprise of many, it’s looking pretty solid.

Modern Warfare 4’s beta kicked off today, and while it’s relegated to PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S for most players this weekend, some content creators have gone hands-on and were live-streaming the Switch 2 version already.

The above video from BoTalksGames has been making the rounds on social media, and with good reason. So far, it looks like a really solid testament to both the Switch 2’s hardware and the devs at Digital Legends who handled the port of Infinity Ward’s game.

The 14-minute video posted by the Switch 2 streamer showcases the game in action, while playing in Docked mode, and it’s a very smooth experience. Surprisingly so. Maybe all of us were naive in thinking the game would look like a Roblox mod, but I’m rather impressed by what it looks like thus far.

To make things even more interesting, BoTalksGames also uploaded a video of MW4 running on Switch 2’s handheld mode, and it’s still pretty damn solid. The game doesn’t look as crisp or smooth as it will on a suped-up PC, obviously, and this is just a small slice of the grand package, but for Switch 2 gamers, this is looking like a triumphant return for the franchise.

MW4 has left behind the PS4 and Xbox One this time around, so to see the game performing and running well on the Switch 2 is a really nice moment for fans of the console, and it’s a pretty feel-good moment to see CoD back on Nintendo after the last game, Call of Duty: Ghosts on the Wii U all the way back in 2013.

The MW4 beta returns next weekend on for all players on Switch 2 as part of its open beta portion, and I’ll be downloading it on my Switch 2 myself to see just how the game feels and plays in comparison to a PS5 Pro.
