S2G Esports wins the 2026 PUBG Mobile World Cup after nail-biting Paris finale

S2G Esports has been crowned the 2026 PUBG Mobile World Cup champion following a dramatic final weekend at the Esports World Cup in Paris.

The Turkish team ended the Grand Finals with 154 points, securing the trophy and the largest share of the tournament’s $3.025 million prize pool. The result also guarantees S2G Esports a place at the 2026 PUBG Mobile Global Championship in Türkiye.

It is the team’s first global PUBG Mobile Esports tournament victory since winning the 2022 PUBG Mobile Global Championship.

S2G Esports survives a tense final match

The PUBG Mobile World Cup began on August 6 with 32 teams divided equally between Group A and Group B. After 12 Group Stage matches, the leading teams progressed directly to the Grand Finals, while those finishing between fifth and 13th entered the Survival Stage.

China’s Tianba topped the Survival Stage with 109 points, 70 eliminations and two Chicken Dinners, earning another opportunity to challenge for the championship.

The 16 remaining teams then faced one another across 18 Grand Final matches between August 14 and 16.

S2G Esports did not enjoy the strongest start, ending the opening day in ninth place as eArena took a narrow three-point lead. Its fortunes began to change during Match 8, however, when a 15-elimination Chicken Dinner earned the team 25 points.

S2G followed that result with second, first and third-place finishes in Matches 10, 11 and 12 respectively. This lifted the Turkish side into fourth place ahead of the final day, although eArena remained on top with 112 points after accumulating 80 eliminations and two victories.

The final day’s SMASH Point was consequently set at 122. Under the tournament’s SMASH rules, an eligible team could immediately claim the championship by winning a subsequent match after passing the required points threshold.

S2G Esports, NS RedForce, Aurora Gaming and eArena all became eligible to win under the SMASH ruleset, but repeated interventions from Tianba, GodLike Esports and Horaa Esports kept the championship alive until the final match.

S2G was eliminated relatively early after an impressive performance from GodLike’s SpoweRR, leaving the team unable to influence the closing stages directly. However, none of its closest rivals managed to secure the result required to overtake it, allowing S2G to hold onto the championship with 154 points.

Tianba’s Qzz named PMWC FMVP

Despite missing out on the overall trophy, Tianba’s Qzz was named the tournament’s FMVP. Qzz recorded 35 eliminations and dealt 6,731 damage across the Grand Finals weekend.

S2G Esports earned 130 PMGC Points from its victory, increasing its total to 173 after its previous performances at the PUBG Mobile Global Open Season 1 Regionals and PMGO Season 1.

The team’s Esports World Cup trophy will also be permanently added to the competition’s Totem, which records each game champion and the overall Club Champion. The keys belonging to the other participating teams will be crushed, with their fragments incorporated into the Totem’s foundation.

Teams still seeking qualification for the 2026 PUBG Mobile Global Championship will have another opportunity through PUBG Mobile Global Open Season 2.
