The best ways to farm Gloom and Gold in Mortal Shell 2

Read the TDGN Briefing →

If you want to awaken your favorite Shell’s true potential in Mortal Shell 2, knowing how to farm both Gloom and Gold should be a priority. After all, you can only get Shell Points by leveling up, while high-end Tarforge upgrades are all but cheap once you get past +10.

But that also raises a question: is there a way to farm both Gold and Gloom efficiently? Here are the best ways to farm infinite amounts of Gloom and Gold in Mortal Shell 2.

The best way to farm Gloom in Mortal Shell 2

A tactic available early on and valuable all the way to the end-game, you can farm Gloom in Mortal Shell 2 by heading to the Gloomshade Grove beacon during the nighttime and defeating all of the Grisha Hunters stationed by it on repeat. The fight lasts less than one minute and nets you over 1200 Gloom per attempt (around 300 per enemy). You can find the beacon by heading east of Blackridge Pass.

If you have yet to visit the area, it’s important to do so during the day first. The hunters will face a massive Grisha who must be defeated for our strategy to work.

To avoid getting surrounded by the enemies when farming, we then recommend hitting one of the hunters with a ranged shot to break them apart beforehand. You can also slightly boost the amount of Gloom earned by equipping the Gloombound Stone, as well as get 15% more via Gragu’s passive ability, Devourer.

How to get the Gloombound Stone

You can get the Gloombound Stone by opening a Stone Chest located at the center of the Stones of Remembrance sub-region. When fully leveled, the stone will allow you to gain +6% Gloom from all defeated foes, which can make a difference if stacked. Just be warned, the area will be the home of multiple enemies who won’t give you any courtesy when attempting to open the chest.

The best way to farm Gold in Mortal Shell 2

Although not feasible early on, you can get infinite amounts of gold in Mortal Shell 2 by first unlocking Proxima’s Tier 3 Collector ability. This is vital, as the ability allows you to harvest Extracted Specimens from fallen enemies and sell them for 100G each at Merrick’s shop. Ideally, you’d want to max the ability out for that +2 Bonus.

Now, head to the Sunken Village beacon, found inside the Glutted Mire Gate, and cross the wooden bridge toward the pasture where you fought The Wandering Shepherd. The area will be filled with sheep. To farm gold, kill all of them before making your way back to the beacon and repeating the process for as long as you wish.

If done right, the above allows you to consistently farm over 100 Specimens (or +10K Gold) per 10 minutes invested, all without risking unexpected deaths. Make sure to also do this at night for some extra Gloom.

Is it possible to farm gold without Proxima?

Unfortunately for all who already used their limited glimpses on other Shells, using Proxima’s Collector ability is the only reliable way to farm gold in Mortal Shell 2. You can, however, get good amounts of it by completing dungeons and towers. Gorf and Hilga’s questline also nets you multiple Marsh Pearls, each valued at 2K.
