In Naruto, the Five Kage are the leaders of their respective villages, and they represent the strongest and most capable ninjas around. The tradition of forming these huge villages started after the Warring States Period came to an end. The Hidden Leaf was the first major village, and it was founded by Madara Uchiha and Hashirama Senju. Soon afterward, others followed suit and made their own villages.
