This artist’s custom GTA 6 PS5 controller design is probably better than anything we might actually get
With the hype at critical mass for Grand Theft Auto 6’s impending “Extended Look” on Netflix next week, I’ve been searching the internet to see how people are coping.
A lot of players on Reddit are counting the days by nitpicking previous footage or just being plain weird, but one artist who specializes in custom controllers came up with an incredible design that I wish was mass-produced because I want it so damn bad.
PlayStation is known for having special DualSense designs to mark its big releases (just check out this upcoming set for Marvel’s Wolverine), so a GTA 6 controller or console makes a lot of sense. I think it might happen, but I don’t know if what we get will be better than this, as seen above.
The designer, @ubnormalous on Instagram, posts content around their custom designs and has painted special controllers inspired by everything from Five Nights at Freddy’s and Metallica to The Witcher 3 and Cristiano Ronaldo. But for my money, I think this may be their magnum opus.
GTA 6’s color scheme is already pretty awesome as is, evoking Vice City’s fluorescent lighting to go along with sunset tones, but they really nailed this one with the colorway, palm trees, and hand-painted depiction of main character Jason on the right side of the controller.
My only complaint is, where’s Lucia? GTA 6 is sporting dual protagonists, and the seemingly doomed lovebirds are at the front of all marketing so far. Lucia’s face missing on the left side of the controller is the only thing that prevents this design from being perfect.
I’d say that I hope Rockstar Games and PlayStation do a similar design to this one, but I’d rather give the artist all the credit here (you can see their IG post below). Having said that, I do feel like a custom PS5 and DualSense design is likely to be in the works given the marketing deal that the companies have together for GTA 6, and it seems like a reveal for those is inevitable. And it’ll all likely sell out really fast, too.

GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on Nov. 19, but the Extended Look on Netflix takes place next week on Aug. 27. Maybe we’ll see a hardware design reveal then. It’s your move, Sony and Rockstar. Can you give us something more awesome than this?
