Goku's been Dragon Ball's overarching main character since the very beginning, but the series has never shied away from sidelining him to focus on the rest of the cast. Especially starting with Dragon Ball Z, Goku becomes more of an ensemble player as Gohan, Piccolo, and Vegeta start driving the plot more often than not.
