All Doom, all the time: Marvel’s top villain is coming to Cosmic Invasion, too

No one is safe from Doom. This Victor guy sure is having a hell of a year, huh?

Marvel’s iconic villain Doctor Doom will take center stage on the big screen in Avengers: Doomsday in October, but he’s also taking some top billing in other projects, like a new DLC for 2D beat-em-up Marvel Cosmic Invasion later this year.

The Siege of Castle Doom arrives in fall 2026 on all platforms, bringing about a new game mode and two new playable characters in the paid DLC where publisher Dotemu says the titular character will be “central” to its events.

Nothing else has been revealed thus far, but The Siege of Castle Doom is the second piece of DLC for Marvel Cosmic Invasion, which added Cyclops and The Thing as playable characters earlier this year. Considering Marvel’s penchant for tying its games to its movie releases, I’d expect the new playable heroes to similarly also be in Doomsday.

This past weekend, Marvel Studios released a very Doom-centric teaser for Doomsday (he’s somehow played by Iron Man’s Robert Downey Jr. in the film), and so the marketing push towards the Dec. 18 release date appears to be in full swing.

Previously this year, Marvel has used its games to help promote Spider-Man: Brand New Day in Marvel Rivals with new skins, Marvel Snap with a Spidey-themed season, and more, so it’s safe to expect more Doctor Doom throughout the year as well.

I’m personally hoping that The Siege of Castle Doom will add Doom himself as a playable character, but more importantly, that it adds a new playable story element to add on to the game’s original contents that launched with the game last December.

In my review last year for Marvel Cosmic Invasion, I praised it’s awesome beat-em-up gameplay but found the game’s very short runtime to be lacking, so additional levels and narrative would be a much welcome addition.
