First Look at Nightcrawler and Mystique's Costumes for Avengers: Doomsday Shown at D23

Avengers: Doomsday Costumes for Nightcrawler and Mystique have been shown on the Anaheim Convention Center floor at D23, giving fans their first up-close and personal look at the characters as they will appear in the film.

D23 is underway, with news about Avengers: Doomsday (and possibly the upcoming X-Men movie) expected to be shared throughout the weekend. Several exhibits of props and costumes for the newest Avengers flick have been displayed for attendees, including outfits for Dr. Doom, Mystique, Nightcrawler, and more.

As shared by IGN’s reporters on the convention center floor, the massive head of a fallen Sentinel was exhibited atop a pile of rubble next to an X-Men logo. Its design is extremely accurate to the comics, boasting glowing green eyes and a purple helmet. Also spotted in the rubble was a sign for Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, which included the address of the X-Mansion: 1407 Graymalkin Lane in Salem Center, Westchester County, New York.

Costumes for X-Men members Nightcrawler and Mystique were also on display. As seen in official posters and trailers for Avengers: Doomsday, Mystique is back in her classic white regalia, with long sleeves, pants, and a small tiara.

In a bigger reveal, it looks like Nightcrawler’s dual cutlasses are back in play, with a mannequin holding one blade in each hand. The outfit includes a long coat with the X logo emblazoned on its front, a waistcoat, pinstriped pants, and a turtleneck.

Other costumes included the Red Guardian's loud tracksuit, which he showed off at the end of the Thunderbolts movie, as well as Sentry’s (sorry, Bob’s) bathrobe from the film. Shuri’s Black Panther suit and Captain America’s classic costume were also placed in this group.

Given what we know so far, it’s easy to speculate that the events of Doomsday could take place just after the ending of Thunderbolts, given that’s when the Red Guardian showed off his shiny new tracksuit. For now, things are still being kept close to the chest by Marvel as fans await more information at tonight’s presentation in the Honda Center.

This is the latest news to come from D23 after Marvel updated the Avengers: Doomsday Clock Countdown stream on its official YouTube channel, inserting a new poster of Dr. Doom as well as a voiceover from Sue Storm. That same voiceover was heard in a trailer shown exclusively at Marvel’s Hall H Panel at San Diego Comic-Con, leaving fans even more curious to see what’ll get revealed next.

For more information about the movie and what’s next for the X-Men, keep it locked to IGN, or watch some of our interviews with the Doomsday cast, who shed a little light on what some of the teasers we’ve already seen could mean.
