MTG Star Trek Play Booster Box Preorders Are Already Discounted at Amazon
Coming on November 13 this year, Magic: The Gathering is going where no Planeswalker has gone before... to the Star Trek Universe. It's the last confirmed Universes Beyond set of 2026, capping off what has been another blockbuster year for Wizards of the Coast.
Celebrating 60 years of Star Trek, I can already tell this crossover is going to be incredibly popular. Preorders have been live for a few weeks now, but we've already seen our first official discount on the set.
MTG's Star Trek Play Booster Box is currently down to $199.99 if you preorder today. That's just under a $10 discount from its $209.70 MSRP, and 5% off in total.
While it's not uncommon for Magic to get some early discounts, especially from the likes of Amazon, it's nonetheless still great news. Making these pricey Universes Beyond sets even more affordable is good news in my eyes.
And yes, it's still a discount, even if it is a small one at that. Plus, if you order today, you will have locked in your "preorder price guarantee" as well, where Amazon will match your preorder to the lowest price available between now and release in November.
Moreover, Amazon won't charge you a dime until it officially ships to you as well, so there's no risk to preordering, and cancelling further down the line if you change your mind.
We've already been looking into the Star Trek set these past few weeks, and recently pointed out how good of a deal the MTG x Star Trek Commander Deck bundle is at $224.97. That's a $75 saving, considering all of the four new precons cost $75 each, and would cost $300 to buy seperately. Of course, because of this, that bundle is now sold out at Amazon. We'll keep an eye out for this coming back soon.
As a reminder, Star Trek is a main Universes Beyond set that will both introduce new mechanics and bring back plenty of old ones. One of the most prominent is the Spacecraft artifact subtype, making its return on cards like U.S.S. Enterprise-D, Galaxy-Class. But one of the most interesting aspects of Magic's Star Trek set is the new Autograph cards.
These are incredibly rare alternate art of creature cards of Captain Kirk, Captain Janeway, and more, which feature actual handwritten autographs from the respective actors.
There will only be just over 200 of these worldwide and are only available in Collector Booster Packs (which are currently sold out just about everywhere), so best of luck on your pack-ripping hunts if you do manage to bag any.
For more MTG deals, check out the slew of discounts on Marvel's Super Heroes right now, one of the other more recent Universes Beyond sets.
That's topped by the recent release of the Marvel Bundle, now down to $59.86, alongside the Commander Deck Bundle for just $184.95, packing all four decks together (and working out at just $46.23 per deck vs. the $74.99 MSRP for each).
