FFXI Shadow Lord Shirt Returns in Shadow Lord’s Dominion Event

Square Enix announced The Shadow Lord’s Dominion event is back in FFXI alongside the FFXIV Echoes of Vana’diel third part and now includes the return of the Shadow Lord Shirt. This is a returning event, so active players might already own some of the rewards or be familiar with it. Since it also involves a Rank 5 mission and a level 95 minimum strength, the company also announced it will return in September 2026 and October 2026, in addition to this August 22, 2026 run, to ensure people can take part.

In order to gain the three weapons, someone needs to go through the Rank 5 mission with a Shadow Lord Phantom Gem. You get that with 10 Merit Points by talking to Mimble-Pimble at Port Windurst (L-5), Raving Opossum at Port Bastok (J-11), or Trisvain at Northern San d’Oria (J-7). If you’re at level 95 or higher, you and up to five additional players can go to the Throne Room to take part in the fight. Very Easy, Easy, and Normal difficulties are available at the start, then Difficult and Very Difficult appear if a person beats it on Normal.

Three weapons are available as rewards. Two are the Extinction and Nihility swords, and the third is the Lament great sword. Here’s how those look:

As for the FFXI Shadow Lord Shirt and Pungent Powder III, both involve trades with Curator Moogles during the event period. Those can be found at Chateau d’Oraguille (H-9), Heavens Tower Clerical Chamber, and Metalworks (J-8). The shirt is a simple cosmetic. The Pungent Powder III temporarily turns you into a baby adamantoise, behemoth, or dragon randomly.

Final Fantasy XI is available on PCs, and The Shadow Lord’s Dominion event will run between August 22, 2026 and September 9, 2026.
