When Robert Downey Jr. was announced as the MCU's Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel created a huge problem for itself. Downey had become synonymous with Tony Stark, and his return only a few years after Avengers: Endgame immediately raised an obvious question: was the MCU really bringing back one of its most iconic actors to play an entirely different character, or would Victor Von Doom just feel like Iron Man in a different mask?
