Best Buy Is Offering a Free $10 Gift Card With These Game Preorders
I’ve been covering deals long enough to remember the good old days when Amazon and Best Buy offered preorder discounts on every video game they sold. Those days are over, but Best Buy is bringing back the spirit of the deal. Right now, when you preorder select games (including The Blood of Dawnwalker), you’ll get a free $10 Best Buy digital gift card at launch. That’s the best (and only) deal going on most of these games. Let’s take a look at the current offerings.
Free $10 Gift Card When You Preorder These Games
So what games are we talking about, specifically? Four games currently qualify for the deal: The Blood of Dawnwalker, Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, FC 27, and NHL 27. With the price of games going up to as high as $80 this console generation (thanks, Nintendo), I’ll take any preorder discount I can get on games I know I’m going to buy at launch.
The Blood of Dawnwalker (PS5, XSX) + $10 Gift Card
The Blood of Dawnwalker comes out September 3. It’s an open-world action-RPG from some of the creative minds behind The Witcher 3 – which is about the most compelling thing you could tell me about any game. It’s set in 14th-century Europe, when powerful vampires have taken over a city in the Carpathian Mountains. Ace Combat: Wings of Theve (PS5, XSX) + $10 Gift Card
Those who enjoy performing aerial combat maneuvers can hop in a digital jet on either September 29 or October 2, depending on which edition you choose. Either way, you’ll go on military missions to take part in dogfights, drop bombs, deploy missiles, and all that good stuff. See our preview for more.
EA Sports FC 27 (PS5, XSX, Switch 2) + $10 Gift Card
EA might not have the FIFA license anymore, but that hasn’t stopped them from releasing an annual soccer - er, football — game. This year’s edition promises “ultrarealistic” soccer action as well as a new Clubs experience called The Grounds, which lets you “meet, play, and recruit new Club members while competing across a variety of football activities.” Note that The Grounds is not available on last-gen platforms. EA Sports NHL 27 (PS5, XSX) + $10 Gift Card
Fans of ice skating and blasting pucks across the rink can pick up NHL 27 to get a free $10 gift card. Out on 9/11, this year’s edition features all 32 NHL arenas, along with better crowd graphics and real-world goal songs. Anyone who preorders also gets a player pack, 500 NHL Points, and WOC 2XP Boost.
Bonus Deal - Free CoD: Modern Warfare 4 Steelbook with Preorder
Best Buy has one other exclusive preorder deal that’s live now, but it’s not a gift card. If you preorder Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 (see it at Best Buy), you get a free steelbook case. Better than nothing! It’s out October 23.
