Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet shows first signs of life in months as Naughty Dog adds an Uncharted and The Last of Us actor to its cast

Naughty Dog's been very quiet about its next single-player offering, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, since its reveal almost two years ago, but the game's just shown its first sign of life in ages with a new cast member who you might recognize from the studio's prior work: Uncharted and The Last of Us.

The famed developer hasn't shown anything from its upcoming sci-fi romp since its reveal trailer in 2024, and it hasn't been especially talkative about the mysterious project either. Lead actor Tati Gabrielle said the game shows "a different side of Naughty Dog," while co-director Neil Druckmann suggested it might borrow a thing or two from Elden Ring, of all games. Outside of that, more concrete details are practically non-existent.

While news about the game had been sparser than the voids of space, actor Robin Atkin Downes today revealed that he's back to working with Naughty Dog and is joining the cast of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

"I've been keeping this one quiet for a while," he tweets alongside of a video of himself in a motion capture suit. "The journey continues! Awesome to be working again with the Dawgs!"

Downes' history with the studio actually stretches back to the very first Uncharted game, where he played crime boss and main bad guy Atoq Navarro. He then provided the motion capture for Uncharted 2's Tenzin, the best friend Nate's ever had, before flip-flopping right back into consecutive villain roles with Uncharted 3's Talbot, The Last of Us' Robert, and Uncharted 4's Hector Alcazar almost a decade ago.

While Downes has historically depicted Naughty Dog's more unsavory characters, his video game resume is really extensive and includes everything from No More Heroes' Travis Touchdown to, err, Assassin's Creed 3's George Washington. What kind of role he might have in Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is still up in the air, then.
