Read the TDGN Briefing →

Whether you want to blow up your foes like the Doom Slayer or put them down with a killer melody, Mortal Shell 2 has the sidearms for the job. Getting all of them, however, will demand both going off course and, in a few cases, facing some of the game’s trickiest bosses.

All Sidearm locations in Mortal Shell 2 and how to get them

You can unlock a total of eight sidearms in Mortal Shell 2, starting with the prologue’s Naylshotte. The remaining seven picks are then scattered across the world map, with three being found in the Fainweald region and four within Ruins of Mammon. You can check out the locations of all seven sidearms below, as well as in-depth overviews on how to get each by heading further down.

Forgotten Crossbow location guide

The Forgotten Crossbow can be found inside a closed chapel in the Flooded Village dungeon. As shown in Merrick’s freebie map, the dungeon is located north of the Blackridge Pass beacon. To unlock its entrance, simply pass through the illusory gate facing it.

Once inside, you will need to acquire the Damp Key to unlock the chapel. To find it, head north from the area and navigate the rooftops. As the dungeon will be infested with poisonous enemies, we recommend using Tiel for his immunity during the search. You will also be able to find a Grisha boss here, who can be defeated for an extra Grisha Remnant.

Troubadour’s Lute location guide

The perfect pick for those looking to rock out while turning enemies against each other, you can find the Troubadour’s Lute in Mortal Shell 2 by heading to the One Legged Wolf Tavern. The tavern can be found east of Mushroom Village and south of the Overrun Quarry dungeon.

After entering the building, the sidearm will be standing by a wall on the side of the stage, waiting for you. Gragu will also be sitting at a table by the bar. To learn how to complete his quest and get his Shell, check out our guide on all Shells and how to unlock them.

Salvaged Trebuchaxe location guide

Following the trend, the Salvaged Trebuchaxe can be found at the end of the Ravaged Hideout dungeon, located south of the Gloomshade Grove Beacon. The dungeon’s entrance will be guarded by the Bloodcursed Lithopod boss.

Although Ravaged Hideout is fairly simple to navigate, make sure not to let your guard down after finding the sidearm, as getting close to it will prompt three apparitions to spawn behind you for a surprise attack.

Ballistazooka location guide

A Mortal Shell returnee, you can get the Ballistazooka in Mortal Shell 2 by defeating the Subjugated Guardian boss at the end of the Sentry’s Grave dungeon. The latter is located on Lonesome Spire and can be reached by heading east of the Gate of Mammon beacon.

Triarch Repeater location guide

First seen in Proxima’s second memory, her Triarch Repeater can be acquired by venturing into the Blackwell Cavern dungeon, located below the broken bridge leading to Castigator’s Keep. To reach it, either use the elevator to the right of the Castigator’s Keep beacon or jump down from the bridge before continuing the descent.

Once inside, the weapon will be reachable after crossing an apparition-filled passage. As you can expect of a minigun, the Triarch Repeater will offer you unmatched ammo capacity, albeit at the expense of mobility.

Cursed Child location guide

An unusual weapon, to say the least, the Cursed Child can be found at the end of the Revered Beacon dungeon, located at Sister’s Refuge. To get to the refuge early on, head to Outskirts of Mammon via The Marrow Keep before jumping into a traversal gate connecting Road to Absolution and Revenant Graves.

While in the dungeon, make your way to the light-emanating platform at its highest point before hitting its flaming altar to summon the Cursed Child and acquire it. To make the ascent easier, ignore the enemies and prioritize getting to the traversal gate while avoiding the harmful light.

Caged Hystrix location guide

Mortal Shell 2‘s final sidearm, the Caged Hystrix, can be found at the very end of the Chamber of Becoming dungeon, located at the southernmost portion of The Silent Steps. The stairs leading to the weapon will only become available after you defeat Sariel and claim both his Shell and Clockwork Scythe. Just be ready; you will need to face the boss multiple times.

How to upgrade sidearms in Mortal Shell 2

Like with your main weapons, you can upgrade all sidearms in Mortal Shell 2 via the Tarforge. To unlock the ability to do so, head to the Martyr’s Tomb dungeon and acquire the Obsidian Lathe. The dungeon can be found by the Widow’s Overlook beacon, facing the Great Arbiter of Flesh’s spawn arena. Once you get the Lathe, head back to Franz at The Marrow Keep to start leveling up your ranged options.
