When does Fortnite Chapter 7, season 4 start?

Fortnite Chapter Seven, season four is expected to go live somewhere between 5am CT and 6am CT. A precise launch date for new seasons is never shared ahead of release, so there’s no way to know with absolute certainty when it’ll be out, but luckily, Fortnite does have a pretty reliable update schedule.

The majority of past seasonal updates have gone live within this timeframe. Sometimes, issues are encountered during downtime, which end up pushing the release further into the day, but this is generally quite rare.

We’ve set our countdown to 6am CT since this is when the past few seasons have gone live. There’s a chance it may be a bit earlier or later, though, so we’ll provide an update here if this happens.

Downtime for Fortnite Override is expected to begin around 3am CT on Aug. 20. This is about four hours before the season will likely go live, although, as was mentioned previously, the launch time for the season may fluctuate a bit depending on how long maintenance takes.

The start of downtime is a lot more reliable, though, as this is the precise time the maintenance for all past major updates for Fortnite has started. Here’s the expected time for it translated across major time zones.

Fortnite Chapter 7, season 4 features

The name of Chapter Seven, season four is Override, and this theme is all about gaming. This means we’ll see all kinds of gaming-related elements throughout the entire season, including new Sprites, weapons, utility items, skins, cosmetics, and so much more. The Fortnite island is also getting refreshed, with new gaming-inspired locations like a loop hill you can run up based on Sonic.

So far, some of the gaming legends we’ve gotten confirmed for this season are Sonic the Hedgehog, who is part of the battle pass, Crash Bandicoot, Sora from Kingdom Hearts, Pac-Man, Joker from Persona, Mega Man, and Tetris. It’s already quite an impressive collection of collaborations, and there’s sure to be plenty more to uncover once the season is live and as it continually progresses.
