Grand-scale FPS

The developers behind the upcoming grand-scale FPS WARDOGS have confirmed they're working to support Proton so it's playable on Linux / SteamOS. I did repeatedly try to get word from them over email, but our direct questions on it have been met with silence.

Going by the Steam page it will have Epic's Easy Anti-Cheat, and it's listed on our anti-cheat compatibility page.

Writing in a post on the Steam forum a developer has now confirmed:

"We do not officially support Linux. However, we are working on proton support and will update our stance once we have this confirmed.

Thanks OP and everyone else interested in WARDOGS, hoping we can update you soon."

Going by early reports on ProtonDB from people in the Beta, they have not enabled the anti-cheat for Linux yet.

Additionally, posting on X/Twitter, the Game Director at BULKHEAD posted a video clip of it running on a Steam Deck towards the end of July that we missed before. So it's all looking quite positive for playing it on Linux eventually.

Since it will be in Early Access, they may not enable compatibility for Linux with Proton right away, we'll just have to wait and see. This could be our true answer to missing out on the Battlefield series, since EA intentionally blocks all Linux platforms with their own EA Javelin Anticheat.

The most recent official WARDOGS video is below:

If they can get controller support working nicely, which is in their plans, this could really make a great online FPS to play on the Steam Machine.
