The Pokémon Company is preparing for trouble in Pokémon TCG Pocket, with the OG baddies of Team Rocket taking center stage in a new themed booster pack arriving next week.

Team Rocket’s Ambition will launch in Pokémon TCG Pocket on August 27, and I, for one, am pretty hyped since the original 2000 physical TCG Team Rocket cards were my personal favorite.

The new set is being teased with plenty of familiar Team Rocket imagery, putting Giovanni and his followers front and center. It pretty much goes without saying, but be prepared to burn through your stash of Pack Hourglasses to get everything you want.

Before the expansion arrives, though, if you’re based in the UK, you have the chance to do a little in-person recruiting of your own. The Pokémon Company International has announced a free Team Rocket-themed pop-up event at Potter’s Field Park in London on August 22 and 23.

This one runs from 9 AM until 6 PM BST on both days, and will task you with proving you have what it takes to become an honorary member of Team Rocket.

Followers of the organization will be dotted around Potter’s Field Park, with visitors challenged to complete a series of puzzles and decipher clues. Successfully solving them will reveal a secret code, which can then be used to gain access to a hidden location.

If you make it through, you will receive a message from Team Rocket’s Boss and officially become an honorary member of the evil gang. What’s more, there are a couple of physical and digital rewards up for grabs, with successful Trainers receiving a themed tote bag as well as a Pokémon TCG Pocket code containing 24 Pack Hourglasses.

Pokémon TCG Pocket has regularly used themed booster packs to expand its card pool since launch, but this Team Rocket-focused set is a huge draw for many, including myself, and may be enough to bring some lapsed players back into the fold.
